AMC theater at Downtown Disney takes dinner and a movie to a whole new level with their Fork and Screen theaters.
It's basically a movie theater and a restaurant combined. Each chair has a small table in front of it, a menu and a button you can press to call a waiter over to your seat.
I find the idea to be a tad over the top. The whole point of going out to dinner and a movie is to quietly enjoy the movie and talk and catch up through the dinner. Now, your movie will be interrupted by a waiter and you'll be eating food while you're watching the movie, which detracts from the experience of both activities. (as much as people love multi tasking, studies show that doing another activity like homework or watching tv while eating doesn't let you fully enjoy your food and leads you to eat more than you need to.)
Also, that cuts dinner and a movie down into one 2 hour activity rather than a full, fun date night. I would rather be able to talk about the menu, enjoy my date's company and then go watch a good movie that i can give my full attention to. Also, since it's Disney, the menu is possibly more expensive than it needs to be. You also have to deal with the fact that everyone else around you is also eating. Frankly, I don't really see the point of this and I hope the trend doesn't catch on to other establishments.
