Once a month, AMC Theaters partners with the Autism Society to present Sensory Friendly Films.
What exactly does that mean? It means that the lights are turned up in the theater, the volume is lowered a bit, and guests are allowed- and encouraged- to yell, sing, get up, walk and dance when they feel like it! It can be difficult for families affected by autism to enjoy a movie in theaters and allow their child to freely express themselves throughout. Once a month, they can enjoy a film in their own way. I think this program is incredible, and I love Downtown Disney even more for it.
Upcoming films and dates include:
Saturday, June 21, 2014 - HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2
Saturday, July 26, 2014 - PLANES: FIRE & RESCUE
Saturday, September 27, 2014 - DOLPHIN TALE 2
Saturday, October 25, 2014 - BOOK OF LIFE
Saturday, November 29, 2014 - HOME
Saturday, December 13, 2014 -PADDINGTON
*All shows are at 10:00 am local time. Dates and films are subject to change.
